Had to give this coin an acetone bath before posting for grading. Reverse was covered in thick glue so bad even the rim had glue all over it. I bathed it in acetone for almost 24 hours. There isn't any glue left on coin. Dark spot in center of reverse is discolored. This is where glue was thickest. White marks are from residue left from acetone. I am a total rookie when it comes to acetone baths. Anyways. Obverse is definitely a Greaser, and a nice one at that. That and the age makes it a keeper in my book. I know it isn't in the best condition, but I am bad at grading coins with this much wear. Does the grease error add any value since it completely wiped out some of the lettering? All opinions welcome. Thanks...Mont.

I think it is interesting to compare the acetone before and after pictures using your previous post: https://goccf.com/t/263635 . The grade would be a "details" grade with the cleaning, I suspect.

The big question for me is, since the obverse is Struck Through Grease, how much detail was taken out because of this and would grade reflect this? Is most of the wear on obverse due to circulation or did the grease take out more than the letters?

Acetone should NOT leave any thing on your coin. It evaporates 100% (right)?
Are you sure you are use 100% PURE acetone, and not a mix?
G Details, from the glue not the "cleaning" (acetone isn't technically cleaning in a coin sense, as it does not alter the surface of the coin).

Ok I was thinking this was an acetone/camera thing making it white. Since acetone doesn't leave a residue then it had to be a toning/camera thing. My bad...sorry I took new pictures at angle. This shows the actual tone of coin MUCH better. Not white just darker in middle. Natural Toning or? Thanks again...Mont

Glue looks like it came off nicely. G details because of the glue. I like the Greaser.

Agree with Good details at best.

Definitely nicer without the glue. Looks like the glue protected the wreath and outer parts from toning.

Agree sort of G-04 details. Interesting, value around 25 cents at best, sad to say.
