I hope that scans are good enough... if I can do something better about that, please, let me know.

I didn't clean them at all... a traces of the soil are still on some of them. If someone have a good advice how to clean them... and if they are worth of working of them... I will appreciate any suggestion.

@filip, I agree that it is hard to see much detail these. After you soak them, consider posting them one at a time rather than as a group as this can give you higher resolution for each coin. The bottom left coin might be arabic, but I look forward to better pics in a couple weeks to confirm.

Thank you for all replies people. Spence, I am going to do as suggested... to soak them in olive oil. However, because I am collecting only modern coins, and I really never tried to anything such unusual with them, I will thankful if you can give me a link on some instructions, or just give me a short tips about that type of soaking. Some special olive oil needs to be... I suppose the one known as "virgin"? Are the coins need to be in a closed container or in the open one? Is it better that container is plastic or metal one? Is container with the coins and oil need to be in a dark place, or on the sun... on a dry place... or it is not important at all? I think that replies on those questions is what I will need to know.

Also... are professional collectors also use that olive oil for the soaking of ancient coins? Can that oil be anyhow harmful for the coins? I can buy a bottle of something better, if exist, to have it for my future ancient coins and possible some other small ancient relics on which I come across here and there. Any suggestion? Or the olive oil is just fine?

It is standard procedure to soak in olive oil (pure virgin olive oil) as it is very mildly acidic.

Glass container out of sunlight seems sensible... open or closed... a soft tooth brush can be used too without any fear.

It isn't rocket science but the judgement is when to stop...and when to try a diffetent approach if not getting the desired result.

Before and after photos are always fun... best of luck.

@filip, there are tons of threads discussing olive oil and its use in cleaning ancient coins on CCF. Here is one chosen at random:

Good luck!
