I was wondering if anyone knows if you can go to the federal reserve bank and get coins from them?

Yes, I know that there is a Federal Reserve Bank in my area, but I don't think that I can go get coins there. What you mean is if there is a US Mint nearby.

And to answer that: Yes, I am sure that there is no mint in my area. So, I am fairly sure that I will be unable to go there and pick up some coins.

But all sarcasm aside, I dunno

I called the Federal Reserve Bank in my area (Cleveland) last week with that very question and the answer was NO. I was disappointed since none of the banks in my area order from the Fed. They say they get so many people trading in coins that they don't need to. And the one bank that did get coins deliveries, got shrunk wrapped mixed year coins. Hope that helps.

The general public cannot get coins from a Federal Reserve Bank, just as you cannot walk up to the front door of any of the Mints and expect to buy coins fresh off the line.

I asked my federal reserve branch in Miami a few week back and the answer was no. It doesn't matter all that much because most banks are willing to sell boxes of coins and order bags of pennies for their patrons. -PP
