Don't understand what the Blaksley effect is. Could use some explaining on that also. Thanks.

Nice find. Looks like the way a real clip fades into the field. Not all minor clips will show the Blaksley affect, but if you made a line straight from the clip to the opposite rim. The affect would be see there or 180 degrees from the position of the clip. Sometimes on one edge or both edges. But more noticeable on stronger clips. But your coin looks like the real deal. Nice find.

You do have a small clip, aka incomplete planchet for proper terminology. The die has nothing to do with it as the planchet is incomplete before striking. Best sign other than Blakesley effect is to look at the area of the clip for weakness and metal flow towards the clip area. Nice find on a Franklin
