I hope this is appropriate to post here, but I was just contacted by the casting producer for "a new show for a major cable network that will feature passionate collectors who are looking to trade-in a few of their pieces for a bigger ticket item." They contacted me because of a website I have devoted to my pocket watch collection, but I think passionate coin collectors would be just as appropriate for the show as described. Personally, I'm averse to ever showing my face on television (fear of breaking the lens more than anything else), but the e-mail said I could share the information with anybody else I thought might be interested. So, just in case anybody is interested:

It sounds like a great idea for a show. I have spent many hours on your pocket watch website and think it was wise of them to reach out to you.
I am just a small fish but some of the other members on this site should definitely try out.

Not sure I really understand the premise of the show. Is this like the "trade a red paperclip for a house" thing that got a lot of buzz about a decade ago?
Would be neat to see what the come up with, but my collection is nowhere near "TV ready".

Not sure if I understand the concept either, to be honest. My guess is that it will feature collectors who have been looking for some dream item for their collection and they get the chance to bargain with people who have those item. Probably all about the negotiation. Like if I had my sights set on a proof 20-cent piece graded MS65, I might be willing to offer my proof Morgan dollar and my proof Trade dollar, but the seller wants me to add another coin from my collection and/or another $1000. Something like that. Or not, just a guess.

I was recruited to be on "The Bachelor" a while back. This is one of those "reality" shows where they take a single guy and throw a bunch of hot chicks at him and then he has to choose.
I never made it past the first round, but I'll always remember the application form. It warned that my personal background would be subject to intense scrutiny and that any and all embarrassing details would be subject to use by the show. It also said that I may be asked to engage in stunts that could be dangerous or even life threatening.
Just so I could get people like me? heck yeah!

Sounds like it could be a interesting show.
But .....
I am sure I would not want strangers or even some people I know ... that live near me.
Would not want most people, to know what I have collected.

The "producer's" don't know possessive from plural. Yeah, I'm gonna mail these guys my location and photos of me and my collection.

I have had a reason for keeping my face offen TV and wanted posters all these years. Notoriety can be problematic if you don't have the wherewithal to protect your person and/or privacy. Jest sayin'.

I'm not sure I'd trust them to give appropriate value on the items you are trading. Coin collecting is very subjective and different collectors have many different criteria that they want their coins to fit ...... would you want some one else picking out the crown jewel for your collection? What if the producer's idea of quality isn't your idea of quality?

No thank you! I have had enough dealing with telivision people and cameras to last me two life times.
Some of you may have heard about the sinkhole that ate a guy while he slept. Well, that was my neighbor.
For over two weeks solid 24 hours a day I had every news agency in the world crawling all over my neighborhood. I never want to see another tv camera.

That was your neighbor!?... I remember that. They couldn't recover him right? I heard his family treats it like hallowed ground. What has happened to the property today? Did someone rebuild or is it still a vacant lot?

Cascade - in 2015 the hole opened back up. The property was demolished & a fence was put around it. If you google it you can read all about it. There are pics too. That's what I did. I love Google!
