A proof should have very sharp details, and the rims should be more squared vs the rounded rims of a business strike. Looking at these pictures, I am not seeing the sharp detail. Out of focus pictures can make it hard to tell. A good way for me, is to do a side by side comparison of this coin with a known 1968S proof. In hand you should be able to tell the difference, or if they are the same. Report this Post to the Staff
Finn235 Pillar of the Community United States 6130 Posts	Posted 07/07/2016 11:10 am Looks like it was possibly dipped in mercury. Impaired proofs quickly look like business strikes with extra sharp detail, but yours seems to have some wear, but is unusually shiny. Report this Post to the Staff
