I read about his win in this Coin World article https://www.coinworld.com/news/worl...u-award.html

He is the author of Mexican Beauty: Un Peso Caballito.

He is also a member of the CCF but hasn't posted since 2014.

Congrats on the win.

I met the man at a local club show just before he posted here. He was very cordial to me despite my being a relative lightweight in the field of Mexican coinage. It's nice to see his lasting contribution to the hobby recognized. It's his sort of detailed research and the willingness to share same that all of us end up relying upon.

Hi Guys,
Many thanks for taking note that the Sociedad Numismatica de Mexico bestowed upon me the great honor of the Pradeau award. It's nice to have some recognition for my work.
I don't do much online regarding message boards or social media, that's very true. But Lucky Cuss, we're all lightweights in one way or another, and likely middleweights or better in some other areas of specialized learning.
Since the Caballito book was published I didn't leave a great deal of time between projects. My latest book is being bound by the printer as we speak. This time an American coin series. The title is THE $2.50 & $5 GOLD INDIANS OF BELA LYON PRATT. I'll have copies available at the August ANA summer show in Anaheim. Finished size came out to 415 pages in full color. It was a huge research project but I'm very pleased with the results. It includes a complete biography of Pratt the coins designer, absolute identification of the Indian on the coin and how I arrived at my identifying him, and a couple hundred coin varieties never written about. In my opinion it's even better than MEXICAN BEAUTY because there was so much more information available about the designer and the historic development of the coin.
Thanks again for the kind comments. If you happen to run into me at one of the shows, please say hello and tell me about your collecting interests.

Will you have copies available before the Anaheim show? I will have to acquire a copy.

Copies will not be available until the ANA Worlds Fair of Money. I'm bringing cases of them. The printer did get me a case of freshly bound yesterday (Tuesday 7/26) so I was able to send preview copies to the numismatic media. They look great and the printing quality is spectacular. 175 line screen shows the details of the coins even better than I expected. Each book weighs in at a hefty 2 lbs. Once I return from Anaheim I will take delivery of the full print run and be able to ship immediately. Will upload a new bookselling website upon my return for online orders. But they will also be available for sale on ebay, Amazon and Wizard Supply.

106 is a respectable library. The ANA has a lending library from which they will send you a book they have on loan for the cost of mailing it, if your a member. When its time to return it, you pay postage back. It's a resource I've made regular use of for my research. Especially good for hard to find books. The libraries here in Salt Lake have very little numismatic literature available. Local coins shops have a lot more.

Thanks again for your interest.

Allan
