Hello everyone, I`m starting to say that i`m sorry for my bad English and sorry if I write this in a wrong place. I need help with a coin, I think is a guilder, from denmark, I had looked over the Internet for more information. Nothing concrete, that is why I ask here about it. I`m interested by the value of the coin.. I have this coin and a entire colection, 200-300 coins, but this is the oldest and i`m tented to sell it... This is a picture: I wait for answers.. Thank you ! Edited by udreaionut 10/16/2011 09:09 am

I'll wait until Sap get's here, he knows every fake and replica on the planet.
Imagined response: This is a modern replica of a Christian IV guilder... because of lettering....such and such (:
It's a guilder from Denmark, 1635 Ferdinand IV bust and lion.
If it's real good luck and nice coin!

Norway Christian IIII 1/8 Specie Daler (3.65g), or it might be 1/4 specie daler (7.31g) depending on the diameter.
These coins are rare and sell for thousands of dollars. Overall the uniform strike and regular appearance of the coin does not look right for the period of manufacture. I suspect this one is a modern reproduction.

It's either a 1/4 or 1/2 speciedaler; the 1/8 reverse inscription ends in "FAC", rather than "FACIT". Can you tell us the diameter, and if possible, the weight?
Unfortunately, I suspect this coin is indeed either a replica, or has been heavily tooled. The details seem too crudely engraved, compared to pictures of genuine examples I could find online.

I put the picture for information. is not the real picture of the coin. The diameter of the coin is 24mm an the weight is somewhere between 5-10 g. This is the real picture of the coin:

Shouldnt the inner and outer rings be more rope-like instead of beads?

24mm is in between the expected size for a 1/8 daler (22mm) and a 1/4 daler (27mm). The 1/8 daler weighs less than 5 grams, so we'll assume for the moment it's supposed to be a 1/4 daler.
The design on this second one seems to match the one in the pic you posted earlier, so I still have the same concerns about it. I'm also concerned about the brown spots on the new pics; it looks like rust. Does the coin stick to a magnet?

Should be a silver alloy, it should NOT stick to a magnet. Since it does it is certainly a fake.
