Just picked up this coin from the Singhalese Kingdom of Sri Lanka.
This is an AE Kahavanu of the Singhalese king Sahasa Malla from the House of Kalinga. He ruled from 1200-1202 and was known as The Lion Hearted.
Sri Lanka has a long history with it's monarchy being first established in 543 BC.
This style of coin in the form of what we know as the Octopus was used for many Kings and one Queen.
