Images 2 and 3 appear to be of a Medieval Poland 3 Groschen (Stefan Batory) 1581 to 1586.

First and fourth pics are of a Thaler from the German Countship of Mansfeld-Schraplau. The three dated varieties are 1566, 1570, and 1571 but they also made them without dates (as yours appears to be). Really nice coin and worth several hundred dollars (assuming it is real). I don't see anything that is a red flag on this one with respect to real vs. fake, but you still need to be careful.

I agree that this is Stefan Batory.

However, I am very confused by the last three letters in the rev inscription: BEN (with the letter N backwards). This is unlike anything that I can find on his Polish, Prussian, or Lithuanian coins.

It's probably intended to be GEN, as in CIVI RIGEN[SIS] (i.e. "of the city of Riga"). Did you check Riga coins?

And just for the record, no, I don't know why the N is backwards either.

@january1may, you nailed it--nice work! The coin *is* from Riga, and the N should be backwards. Also, the funny looking B is actually a G.

@smokey21, your coin is a 3 groschen from Riga dated 1582 (the 2 looks like a Z). The attribution is Kopicki #8091.

the Riga's three groats 1582 seems like not original,unfortunately.....there are too much copies of these coins here, in Baltic states....or the fotos are not clear.
