I have several Sixpence coins I'm trying to assess; I'll post photos of them in separate threads.

Here's the first one. I've included multiple photos of each side so that both its true color (dark) and the details.

What appears to be "D 5" is under Edward VII's neck. Does this indicate the die number, where it was minted, or something else?

Also, how would you rate its condition? Thanks.

The letters underneath the head of Edward VII are those of the engraver George William De Saulles. He designed the obverse of coins of the UK and its colonies for both Queen Victoria and King Edward VII.

No, it's the letters DS for George William de Saulles, the engraver/designer, a well-known British medallist.

Well the description is sorted now to the condition. It would seem the coin has been underground and quite frankly the tone kills it,shame really, underlying it appears a GF+
