The 1984 reference here is part of this member's signature and has nothing to do with your coin.
It is a spender for sure.

Am I correct in assuming that it is a Canadian coin honoring the 100th anniversary of WWI? I'd keep it. See how many you get in change, then sock away the purtiest ones. Of course, very few people are rich enough to collect examples of all Canadian coinage at this point. And then there is the rest of the United Kingdom. Yeah, the US has taken the joke a bit too far to.

"In recognition of the 100th anniversary of the writing of In Flanders Fields by Canadian Lt. Col. John McCrae on the front lines of the Second Battle of Ypres, Belgium in 1915, the Royal Canadian Mint has issued a 2015 $2 circulation coin honouring this iconic poem of remembrance. The reverse side of this coin, designed by Canadian Artist Glen Loates, features an image of Lt.-Col. McCrae writing In Flanders Fields on the battlefield surrounded by crosses and poppies, with the larks described in his poem flying overhead. At the bottom of the outer ring, the words "REMEMBER" and "SOUVENIR" flank each side of the 2015 year of issue. A total of five million $2 circulation coins celebrating the 100th anniversary of the writing of In Flanders Fields have been produced." http://www.mint.ca/store/news/royal....V4hbppDOerU****** Not a keeper once it's already been in circulation and not rare. If you decide to collect Canadian coins, a couple dollars more will get you one in Mint State condition.

For me I really liked and enjoyed the design, much higher caliber than most that are in circulation :) but it's a spender :P As for a world coin list that you can keep track of your collection you'll love http://en.numista.comIt's exactly what you are looking for

For me I buy these from the mint, unc, and there are lots of those, if this is your only one, for sure keep it. but I don't think it will increase in value. So only keep it if you enjoy looking at it.

Anyone interested in collecting toonies, here's the list: http://www.coinsandcanada.com/coins...rs-1996-2016Lots of different varieties, affordable in MS condition and as Ace mentions, for a short time around the release of each commemorative issued for circulation from time to time, a pack of 5 can be ordered straight from the mint. Dealers and ebay, directly from a roll. But otherwise, once our Toonies enter into circulation, virtually guaranteed that over time as a result of the hands, cash registers, wallets or pockets they pass through has already damaged the finish and eventually will cause it to become dull and dingy looking. To accumulate a collection from circulation coin, costs nothing, good fun, a great seek and search activity for a beginning collector. But as others have mentioned, don't expect current circulation coin saved to ever have any value other than face.
