By 'corrupted' I mean inappropriately cleaned, doctored, or such.

I think it is because a) it looks 'too shiny'; b) at 7x it looks quite 'pocked' (if that's a word... - pockmarks).

If has a "mirrorish" look, it's probably been replated. There are millions of replated 1943's out there.

I agree with it being re-plated. And with that finger print on it makes it a spender,IMHO.
