Hi all!

New collector and new member here with a very strange shield penny. Obverse looks normal, as does edge, but the reverse is almost entirely missing. no stamp of the background behind the shield, no copper colored finish, VERY little of the shield stamp but what there is of it is normal copper colored with a shiny finish. The reverse also has strange curved lines in a "pinwheel" shaped pattern, originating in the middle and extending outward to the edges, which are dark in color.

At first I thought post mint damage but after looking closely at the patterning, placement, and nature of the "damage" I'm not so sure. I've never seen anything like this, and was hoping someone could tell me what this is or, by what is this condition caused? Any info on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks all! :)

Pinwheel?
Sounds like a lathe job. Pictures will confirm.

Sounds like a coin turned on a lathe. Look a bit like this?
Help!-Very-Bizarre-Shield-Penny-From-2015-Has-No-Reverse
It is called a Magicians coin. You put a dime in the opening of the coin, then you can make it appear that you turned a cent into a dime. (By flipping the coin under a closed hand)
The lines look something like this?

Or like this?

If so, then it was altered after the coin was struck.
