Hi Everyone, I've been in and out of collecting the past few years. I'm still a beginner in many ways, so I have a passion to learn as much as I can about the hobby. My interest grew in 2011 after my father passed away. He had a large modern coin collection, which I'm still trying to inventory. In any event, it got me interested in collecting, and I feel like it's something that I can share with my father even if he's not physically here with me. I guess my focus right now is larger modern coins (early silver Washington quarters, etc.) and a few older pieces ( Morgan silver dollars are a favorite of mine). I look forward to learning, making friends and contributing when I can. Thanks. Kevin

Welcome Kevin! Coins provide a powerful link with the past, and learning about them helps put much into perspective. Post some pics, ask questions, make comments, joke around, whatever. We're with you on your quest.

Thanks, guys! One of the many things that attracts me to coin collecting is the history behind them (and owning part of that history).

In and out of collecting, eh? Where do you throw your change when you empty your pockets? Do you, ahem, check it out before you take it to your coin dump? What else do you collect? Has it ever gotten you thrown in the pokie? What occupation sustains you? Are you married? Do you have kids? Do you know how many? Were you, are you, an only child? What's your favorite color? Why? What do you think that says about you? Why? My wife started out as a Respiratory Therapist. Walk in the room, stick an instrument in the patients mouth, and then carry on a conversation with them. And, like a three year old, I learned it from her. So, how's dinner?

Ha-ha. I'll play. First of all, dinner was OK. I rarely have change in my pockets but when I do, I throw it in a jewelry box, quickly scanning the coins before closing it. I also collect sealed/graded vintage toys from the 80s, but it's never gotten me thrown into the pokey. I used to be in finance/investments, but I've been a writer for several years now. I've been married for 15 years and have two kids, one of which passed in 2010. My second son will be five this October. I'm a middle child with two sisters. My favorite color is blue...probably because I prefer cooler colors. I'd rather be cold than hot, so perhaps the two are connected. How was your day?
