I'd done a bit of a hello in the 'tell us where you're from' thread, but I decided to share a bit more about myself with a bona fide 'hello' post (belated though it may be.)
So it would seem that I've been fairly oblivious to the world of numismatics, specifically, but I do have a general interest in both science and art, so I have a particular fondness for the places where they collide. Alchemy, metallurgy, imprinting, design... well, when my eyes were finally opened recently to the specific world of numismatics (thanks to Canada Post's Star Trek stamps and
RCM tie-ins) it was a match made in... oh look, shiny!
Now, where was I? Oh right coin collecting... I have a number of coins in awful condition, such as a recently identified 100+ year old Canadian quarter dollar with the year completely worn away, and a number of foreign coins as well. I had some coin books as a kid, but life has led to me losing my possessions more than once, so... hopefully they found a good home!
My current interests lean toward the NCLTs. A part of me thinks it's the gimmick of the century to incorporate glass (for example) in coins that are "legal tender", but the other part of me... oh look, shiny!
Uhm... I got lost again. Before I forget, I'll just add a pre-thanks for the knowledge I gain while in your company. Cheers!
