A dip in acetone might be reasonable for the Peace dollar. Agree that it looks around AU-55 underneath. I'd say XF-45 on the gold.

Unsure what you are saying - did the acetone help or not? If so, can you show us another pic?

Got it, thanks. You seem to have done OK on the price here. I would consider paying to have it conserved and graded by NGC.

Did you let it soak in acetone overnight? The gold piece looks VF+ to possibly XF40. Price sounds fair enough.

I think NGC conservation is the best option, normally my method of acetone with a q tip to wipe off residue without damaging the surfaces usually works but this wasn't cutting it. I would send it to PCGS conservation but they are severely backed up so NGC is my first choice, they did an incredible job with another 28 peace last year and it graded au55 and looked totally different

Good choice - this coin has tons of potential.

Might be worth trying to soak it in acetone overnight. It can't hurt, and it might take a while for that residue to dissolve.

Acetone will not change the toning, only a dip in E-Z-Est will do that. I'd say AU-55 on the $ and EF-40 on the $2 1/2.
