Large 3 in diameter quarter with .999 fine silver on the rim. Couldn't get a good pic of it.

It looks like a 5 oz Commemorative Coin, but can't find this particular coin listed on the US Mint site.

I found one for 1999 on ebay -- doesn't look like an official US Mint product; described as "4oz .999 Silver State Quarter Commemorative"

Thanks! Just started collecting silver coins and my friend showed this coin he had but I can't even find a pic of another one on Google. Wondering if it was fake.

It is a bullion round produced by a private company, not the US Mint.

It is a privately made round. By the letter of U.S. code, it is illegal to make an object that imitates an official U.S. coin or paper note that uses the phrase
United states of America in conjunction with a description of a denomination. This medal could be subject to seizure by the Secret Service.

Doesn't the large size exempt it from that? I have seen exact replicas of US coins and Currency. not identified as COPY, but much larger or much smaller than the real stuff.
