I recently obtained this, token, "North Western Novelty Company Limited, Good for five cents in trade! I found it on the National Currency Collection", website, which states, this token was issued between the years 1912-1916,is made of brass, and was issued out of Calgary Alberta! Might not be worth much, but I have to assume there`s rarity there, just how rare? Well, if its in the National currency Museum Collection..mmmmm...can`t be that common, could it? Does any CCF member have one? Would it be worth slabbing? I have to do more research, like, how much? Thanks in advance.

The hole makes it look like an arcade token to me. These sorts of things are not usually worth much I don't think.

There is an ebay listing for a similar token from North Dakota.

Tnx DBM, missed that listing. That one is obviously the same company, a slightly different variation though ,in the wording, and the metal, not bad for a Metal detector find, I was very happy to exhume this one from the depths of oblivion! LOL

It was for a slot machine/trade simulators for gum/candy/cigars. Lots and lots of them were made as the whole point was to get around the gambling laws of the times. They sell for .50 t0 $10.00, and more so what somebody is willing to pay for them. Most token collectors wouldn't pay the money for a slabbed piece. CWT's and counter stamped ones are a different matter, for getting slabbed. Modern era ones from after the Civil war generally are made in large numbers.
