Novice here but have read a number of articles on PL and DMPL Morgan dollars. In my opinion the below coin is at least PL as it reflects 4 inches of the ruler. I am still working on my photography skills. Request input from the knowledgeable folks. Respectfully, Bill

Stand the coin upright against a flat surface, with no direct lighting, only diffuse or indirect, preferably a white incandescent. Set your camera on the surface perpendicular, such that the lens is directly pointed at the obverse/reverse of the coin. Use a long exposure shot to bring out the contrast.
That should let us see how "deep" the mirrors are.

Thank you Adam. My only digital camera is my IPad which I used for the photo in my post. I will try to borrow one. I appreciate your input. Regards, Bill

You can do the same thing your ipad camera, just set it on a flat surface pointed directly at the coin.

That reverse certainly looks PL but note that the coin isn't considered PL unless both sides exhibit that level of reflectivity.

Photographing this is tough. I finally got a front and back but had to drop to very low resolution to post it. Placed coin on a piece of white with 4 lines: blue 1 inch - red 2 in. black 3 inch and red 4 inches from base of coin. On obverse I can clearly see all 4 lines; on the reverse I can see the black 3 inch line wrap around behind the right wing and believe I see the 4 inch red line blurred at the very to of the coin. Maybe/Maybe not. Requesting opinions as to whether Prool-Like from the experts. What is a Deep Proof Like? Respectfully, Bill

to the CCF!! These pictures are great! A picture of the complete obverse would help as well. From what I can see here I would say yes this would make PL.

Thanks again folks. I am trying to establish the value of this coin. What % premium is usually attributed to a PL Morgan dollar? I am grading it as MS but don't know what number. Any input is appreciated. Regards, Bill
