I recall reading about the stone coins of the Micronesian island of Yap many years ago. Some are as big as 12feet diameter, weighing up to 4 tons. They have an oral history of ownership & Wikipedia says they are still in use today.

The Bank of Canada had one on display in Ottawa a few years ago. I assume that it is still there but I am not sure. So you do not have to travel to Yap to see one.

These coins wouldn't be much good in your trouser pocket!
High security: banks not needed - no one is going to steal them, more secure than Bitcoins.

Previous editions of Guiness Book of Records refer to them.
