I thought I would share with you this exciting new addition to my CBD collection. Only two die marriages are known for the dimes of 1824. Both are overdates, JR-1 and JR-2. Both varieties share the same obverse, while the reverses are of course different. Th easiest way to tell one from the other is by the shape of the '1' in '10C'. JR-1 has a flat-topped 1, while JR-2 has a pointed 1. There are other differences as well between both reverse dies. I have had an JR-1 for a few years, and had been looking for JR-2 for a while. I was very fortunate to be able to obtain this example of the scarce 1824/2 JR-2 variety. It is rated R-5+ in the Bust Dime I.D Guide. An estimated 31-45 examples are known to exist. Described as 'exceedingly rare above VG, finest know is EF'. This particular example is toned dark grey and graded PCGS VG10 with nice detail for the grade. These are the sellers pictures: Edited by GERMANICVS 07/25/2016 11:10 am

Thank you for your comments, everybody,
Yes, I was very happy to find it. The pool of currently available examples of 1824/2 JR-2 is predictably small. I was able to locate only 3 other specimens on-line, and this was by far the best. The fact that it came from a well known and knowledgeable source was another plus point.
