1982 P Quarter...lamination Error?

Found this roll hunting and it's left me scratching my head. The pennies are there for color reference even though they are really dark themselves so I'm assuming toning plays a part on those two... But that quarter though...any thoughts? I'm afraid to scratch it because it is in decent shape as it is. It has a couple chips missing from the front around the date on the obverse and a chip above the "s" in states on the reverse. All chips reveal that reddish-brown color. I apologize for the pic sizes but my crop isn't working on my phone.

That is corrosion commonly found on metal detector finds, the result of spending extended time in soil.

Sometimes there is some very caustic chemicals in soil.

Over the years I have found a lot of similar coins metal detecting.
