I have six old gulden coins that I think are real based on information I found in forums on this site. I am not a collector so not sure about grading. The coins I have are a 1937 2 1/2 gulden, 1863 2 1/2 gulden, 2-1824 3 gulden and 2-1739 not sure on denomination. Thank you for having a nice site.

Hi and welcome!

For proper grading, please also post pictures of the obverse of the coins. Thanks!

Thanks for posting! I'd put the grades on it as I can see it on the pictures. Please know that I am not a professional and that I might come up with different grades when having the coins in hand. I'd use European grading on these coins as I am European and the coins are as well. Americans add a number between 1 and 70 to the grades to be even more specific.

Anyway, top row, left to right:

Fine, Very good (but cleaned?), Fine (but cleaned?)

Bottom row, left to right:

Fine, Very good (but cleaned?), Very Fine

I really love to see these coins. I have lived in The Netherlands for many years and I am still trying to build up a Dutch type set, although it is quite difficult to find any coins where I am situated now. Especially the VOC coins (ducatons, like these)and the 3 gulden coins are difficult and really require a trip to a foreign country...

Anyway, I can also recommend, in addition to this site, to look here and search fro Netherlands and Netherlands East Indies to get more information on your coins: http://en.numista.com/catalogue/index.php

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the grade I will assign to all six of the coins will be fake.
Rest in Peace

OK, but fake grade A? B? C?

Sometimes lemons can turn into lemonade.

In fact, Patricia, you'll learn here about counterfeit coins that are known, graded, and coveted.

It reminds me of the story of the little bird that wouldn't fly south.

Welcome to a group of the nicest people on the internet.

Indeed, fairly recent Asian forgeries.

As stated before, I really need to buy myself a new monitor screen. A big one, preferably. I missed out that they are fakes, honestly.
