Good evening drnsreedhar, Just a quick note to let you know I've been doing some research on theses coins and have just posted a thread on the ancients section giving my idea of how the obverse of these coins would have looked if the flan incorporated the full punch/die design..If you have time I would love to hear your opinion on what I've found.
Thanks kind regards Paul

Good evening again just to let you know I've just posted the reverse research. There doesn't seem to be much interest on the ancient forum though Any ideas where I could post these where there might be more interest? Kind regards Paul

This coin seems very much like an imitation. Alternatively it could be a recent forgery too. Thanks

Hello drnsreedhar, Could you take a look at theses 2 obverses please. I've got them both attributed as Sankara varman, the one on the right definitely.... But the one on the lefts shape of the first character of the name seems odd as the left most oblique line is a bit atypical, it should run vertically down. But I have no good alternative.Celator error or different ruler? Any ideas? Thanks Paul

@Palouche:)The left coin also is of Samkaravarman. Legend is slightly differently struck. Very good work.

Hello here's one that I'm not 100% sure on? Any help would be greatly appreciated as I've not seen one of these before and assume its rare? Seller had it attributed as a joint issue from Sampth?(don't know who he was?) and Jayasimha 1127-1150AD As we look at the coin to the right I can read JA and the start of YA.. To the left there is SRI next to this a SA? And below PA?orPHA?but there seems to be a character linking the two and I can't make it out? On the reverse Deva Have you got any ideas on this one?Is it possibly a joint issue with his father Sussala? Thank you regards Paul

Dear Palouche:) You have an excellent and well preserved coin here. It has lots of details on it which is very unusual for medieval Kashmir coins. I have gone through it like this With the legend "Jaya", the possibilities are two. 1. Toramana - where the legend reads "Jaya pira". Jaya is seen to the right of the figure. The figures of the king and Lekshmi are of very crude nature. 2. Jayasimba - Usually "Jaya" appears to the left of the figure. "Simha" may be visible partially or rarely in full. The figures on both the sides are refined. In the case of this coin, "Jaya" is to the right of the figure. On to its left the letters "Sri" is very clear. Other next to it can be "ma" or "sa". And the letter below looks to me like "ta". If we interpret it to make a sensible word, it should be "Sri ma t" the term in Sanskrit for "honourable". "Jaya" is clear. On the other side, "deva" too is clearly read. There is another letter to the left of the figure that can be read as "ha" with its form similar to Sarada script which was prevalent in that area during medieval period. (We can see this being used on coins of Madanapala, Samantadeva, Chahatadeva, Jalal ud din Mingburnu, Qurlugh etc). So with the refined figures, Jaya and "ha" I am inclined to think that this must be an issue of Jayasimha with legend "Srimat Jayasimhadeva" only "si" missing on the flan. Thank you.

Dear Palouche:) Your last posted coin is a real brain teaser! I am yet to get any lead to reading the full legend. Anyhow I am still optimistic. Thanks for posting this.
