Normal weight Silver Outer layers is 24.62 grs
Normal weight Nickel Outer layers is 22.68 grs
Actual weight of this 1971 is 23.42 grs
Actual Dia. is 1.501" and Actual Thickness 0.104"
Why the weight is in the middle of both varieties?
Thank a lot for you opinion.

Close to the "N" of UNITED, there's an incuse dot (on the reverse). Because I did the Rockwell hardness test. Comparing this one with about 10 others (Nickel outer layer).
The result didn't give me too much difference. But the question in my mind still; Why this difference in weight?

Mint tolerance and circulation wear is my guess.

If you thought it was a valuable error then what were you thinking of to damage it with a hardness test?
