So my latest potential addition. 1824 over various dates. Supposedly an R1 but surprisingly difficult to find a decent example.

What says you on a grade?

The obverse surface looks a little splotchy with a few alternating bands of light and dark. Can that be natural or does it look like the surfaces were messed with at some time?

Here's the detail of the overdate by the way. The 1824 over Various is my favorite overdate of the entire Bust half series.

A great type coin! My guess is XF45, maybe AU although there is some rub on the wings.

Now another piece of info. It's in an ICG slab. But as they say "buy the coin, not the holder" certainly applies here and an exception was warranted for this coin.

Kind of blotchy toning. Leaning towards would grade at the big 2 TPGs but I'm not entirely sure. Taking a bit of a risk with ICG.

Well it is an ICG EF 45. I am planning on sending it to PCGS/NGC as it will most likely cross at ICG's grade or even AU. I started another thread in the TPG forum about the possibilities.

Thanks for participating. It took a lot of arguing with myself before deciding to purchase and ICG coin but the price was right and I am getting frustrated in trying to find this variety for a decent price.
