The Coins That Started It All (Happy Birthday Dad)

LibertyEagle20 Pillar of the Community United States 1192 Posts	Posted 08/04/2016 2:46 pm Today would have been Dad's 70th birthday. He fell ill to cancer in 2012 and passed away in late 2013. Growing up I have fond memories of going to the bank and picking up obscure coins/bills with him. I can't remember finding anything rare (and if I did, I wouldn't have known) but I know I liked half dollars and $2 bills. As I grew into a teen, I lost interest. I don't know where any of my old coins or bills went but I likely spent or lost them. About a year after Dad passed away, I was going through his stuff and found these coins. They may not look like much but they mean the world to me. He was a smoker which is why they took on such a dark tone. Originally I thought they were low grade however under the dark tone they have very good details left. I put them into airtites and plan to keep them for the rest of my life. Finding these coins is what got me back into the hobby. I wish I knew the story behind them and where he got them. I'd give anything to go back and talk to him! Happy 70th birthday Dad!
