Hey guys

I wanted to get everyone's opinion on this coin I purchased on ebay earlier...
The seller is great southern coins and I believe almost all of us have dealt with them at one point ..
I know you gotta watch them as they list high end coins that are a lot of the time cleaned ...
This one looked ok to me , seems to have nice luster and looks UNC ..
They had it listed as choice UNC , idk about that but I thought worse case AU58 ?

62 at best . the stitches on her neck where someone tried to slit her throat is partially keeping grade down .

The coin is not quite Unc., and if it has not been messed with, if so probably years ago given the look, I'd say that it is an AU-58.

I have never done business with Great Southern Coin. They are the dealers the collectors "love to hate" on the PCGS board. With all of the dealers out there, I don't why people feel that they have to buy coins from a firm that is, shall we say can be a bit slippery.

This one doesn't look cleaned, that's the plus side. But I agree, looks AU-58.

the graffiti on the reverse near the DIM(E) and the other digs into the mirrors and obverse relief would hold this from a righteous slab IMO. Its a typical GSC coin: great looking details and an inexpensive example compared to a problem free coin (unless their shill bidders take hold of the auction).

graffiti you gotta be joking ?
Their isn't anything on the reverse of this coin that I couldn't show you on every NGC , PCGS AU58 to low MS Barber dime I own..
You gotta realize those imperfections that your getting hung up on are so so small , it's going to be tough to even see most those with out a loup ...
I got the coin for low AU money and thought this was a easy AU58 , I'm not seeing anything that would deem this a problem coin ?
I think DS might need to check his Glasses or meds :)
JK
Seousily though saying this coin has graffiti , I don't wanna be rude but that's insane !!

Original AU-58, agree. A few minor issues but nothing that "details" it.

CoinCollector2012 hit it on the head. I would not touch anything from this company. hopefully it looks ok in hand when you receive it. they have great photographers that can make coins look way better than they are and hide flaws

So the coin arrived this morning and I have to say I'm pretty happy with it !!
I've purchased a few slabbed barbers from great southern coin over the years but this is the first raw coin ...
I've looked the coin over with a loup and it looks good , the luster looks way better in hand but it's not the choice UNC they listed it as ...
I've been comparing it to a 1911 PCGS AU58 and a 1912d MS62 I'd got recently and I think it might have a shot at MS61 !!
