I created a new topic with a subject less than 20 characters (I didn't even notice the character count just above it - duh). The topic itself was rather lengthy.

When I clicked the Post New Topic, it gave me a screen that said that the subject had to be at least 20 characters, and presented me with a link to "go back and fix subject" or something like that.

When I clicked that link, it took me to a BLANK topic and I lost everything.

I just tried it again with this post (but saving text first), and it is reproducible behavior.

That's an issue with Google Chrome. Standard browser behavior is to preserve the textarea input when using the link to go back or hit the back button.

As a workaround for Chrome users, can the board be modified to where it is a "pop up window" warning instead, that can then be dismissed (closed), and therefore with Chrome the work done to make the post is not lost? Or make some other modification so that the subject always reaches 20 characters (like make the subject in red, until it reaches 20 or more, or something like that?) I now know the warning is there, but I have never noticed it before today.

I have been posting for 8-9 months here and this is the first time one of my subjects was less than 20 characters, but I was very disappointed to lose that post because of it.

...or is it a setting in Chrome that can be adjusted on my end?

Sorry, I stopped coding for broken browsers years ago. It would be never ending with Internet Explorer, it would be a full time job. Plus you spend hours catering to a busted browser only to have them fix it tomorrow then your *fix* breaks the properly working browser. I just don't do it any more.

Also, in the area where you type the subject is a counter (sorry, couldn't get a screen shot :) )
