Tough one to grade since it's a key date and doesn't show much luster in the images. There are minimal contact marks and a good strike so I have to believe there is some good luster there.
I'm going with MS62.

PCGS pop of under 150 across all grades? Awesome! I'm not familiar with grading these but it looks like a great coin, thanks for sharing!

That is a nice coin and a pricey coin somewhere in the $30,000-$40,000 range.

Which Saints of the 1920l's were returned to the mint and melted down in the 1930's? Mintage tells you nothing. Red Book says most of the Saints of the 1920's were returned to the mint and melted down. Is this correct?

Coinfrog, sorry for the delay in answering you, I purchased this at auction while on vacation.
Terry, of the 3.1 million 1927-s coins minted, there were only 3750 pcs. that were released and the rest were melted after 1933. JFH

Red Book says most of the Saints of the 1920's were returned to the mint and melted down. Is this correct? All dates/mm Saints were subject to the 1933 gold recall. Most were melted and some had never left the hands of U.S. Gov't prior to melting. The pieces held overseas were a different matter altogether. Were most of the 1920's Saints melted? Well there are numerous common dates in the 1920's so that statement is debatable but many of the later dated Saints were melted for sure.

Does melt include Mitt Romney since he is Later Day Saint?

You bought this coin while on vacation? I want to take my vacations where you do. Were you out of the USA? The coin is in the 30K to 40K range. Please tell me where you live and when you will be away for a week. You can trust me. Were you a hedge fund manager in real life or just cosmetic plastic surgeon? If you give me the coin I will guard it with my trusty Remington 870 and handy Glock 19. I will not sleep until you want it back. You can reach me in Outer Mongolia in case of emergency. I think you may be the most high end collector I have seen since I started here which is maybe a year, so what do I know about high rollers?
