In 1968 was there a common die issue with the LIBERTY, particularly the i?
I been seeing it regularly, but also as many without.
Examples below:

I would think Master Die Doubling.

Actually the master hub was needing to be replaced. The devices were touching the rims on most of the cents that year. So when you look at the 1969 and forward coins, you can see the master hub was replaced.
