Recently I submitted two (2) coins to PCGS for grading they both were returned to me as "no service/not holdered" -despite the PCGS definition of "no service" on their website -what/how/why would cause an item to be refused for "no service" --it's not counterfeit-otherwise they'd be identified as such....and if there was a problem w the coins they'd be identified as "details" ----hope you all can clarify and thanks for the input -----

And sorry no pics are available

For a definitive answer you should call PCGS and ask them.

Did you package them as specified by PCGS?

Two possibilities I see:

1. The coins are pieces that PCGS does not certify.
2. The coins are highly esoteric and not well known by PCGS graders.

Thanks to all for your thoughts --yes, they were packaged correctly., as 4 other items were sent in the same package--all 6 are currently enroute back to me. One item was a Buffalo nickel, while the other was a 1/2 dime --and so, they are not esoteric. I have sent an email to them, and am waiting for a response.

Best regards

Did they give you a code number on those coins?

Can you go into a little more detail about the nickel and Half Dime?

For them not to be graded or detailed, something had to have been seriously wrong with them.

PCGS is infamous for not responding to emails. You'd probably be better off calling them instead. You'd get a quicker response, which is pretty important if you want them to correct it before sending it back to you.

--could it be-because they were submitted as a "restoration" submission and not a "typical" grading submission ?

Probably. They decided they couldn't help them, so they did nothing and sent them back.
