One of my big complaints of ALL coin shows is that there doesn't seem to be any way to know who has what you're looking for without visiting every single table. While I understand this helps every table, there has to be a simpler way to find specific things.

I typically go to a coin show with my list of things I need, with a small handful of priority items. Many times, I get to Table #127, only to hear, "I just sold one of those 2 hours ago!".

Anyone have any ideas? Is there a way to create some sort of "Seeking Board" on the bourse floor? I've often wanted to pick up a microphone, and announce, "Attention - I'm looking for a yadda yadda yadda, MS62 or better, who's got one?"

At some of the smaller shows, after striking out with a particular dealer, I will ask if they know anyone else at the show who might have what I am lookin for and sometimes they will refer me to another dealer aka "go check with old Joe Smith down there at table 68".

I do that, Ken, but it's usually not effective, especially when you're looking for something very specific. I'm just looking for a more universal method to make things easier for people (me!) to match up with who's selling what I'm buying.

Yes, it is definitely an issue at shows; one reason I tend to buy online more.

This could be a really cool idea for an app if there is a savy programmer in our midst. It would require the user to select his show as he walks in and would need to have the dealers making available their inventories in some sort of a centralized, standardized way. I think your biggest challenge will be dealers providing access to their inventories, and keeping them up to date. I don't think the database engineering would be terribly groundbreaking and I'm sure buyers would happily use it on their phones at showes.

1. Walk into the show with a sign in large letters saying what you want.
2. Purchase a loudspeaker and when you first walk into a show, announce what your looking for with the loud speaker.
3. Rent a table and fill with signs of what your looking for.
4. Hire a large amount of people, pay them to walk around the show with signs of what you want.
5. Print a list of what you want and tape to your head.

There actually is a site that allows dealers to post what they are bringing to (major) shows. It doesn't get much action because of the work involved.

Does anyone remember the name of the site?
