I came across this coin in my collection. Is this coin worth anything? I know little of the coin talk but I love collecting the old coins. Can anyone tell me what is going on with this coin?

Junk silver. A Franklin half dollar.

Worth about $7-$8 in silver at today's silver prices.

Planchet lamination faults are scarce, but not scarce enough to have much effect on the value of this coin in this condition.

Melt value only in this case.

The dings on the rim makes it a cull to a collector. It has silver value. (right now: $7.1217 from an internet source retail value)

Yep just melt, but if it was a higher grade coin, without the rim dings, it would be a nice coin
