Just picked up a "Like New" Garrett Ace 350 and it really is Like New!! Been wanting a MD for awhile, just been able to resist the urge. Fell victim to a misplaced CL ad. I've been lurking this forum for sometime. There should be a warning or something here!!

Thanks y'all.
Quick question: Besides your detector, what else do you carry with you?

You'll want to carry a tool for digging. You'll need a couple of baggies for any treasures that you find and you will need a little garbage bag. If you dig up old ring pulls or bottle caps, put them in the trash. I think it's considered good metal detecting etiquette to pick up any trash you come across. Take some kind of (legal) knife. Water. A rag or two. GPS. Cell phone. Emergency beacon. Okay - that's probably more than you will need.

Congrats! That's what I started with, but I have to warn you if you start being successful you'll start hearing the siren song of the Minelab or other high end detector calling you!
I more or less agree with Buddy but with a couple differences. I like using nail aprons instead of baggies. They are really cheap at Home Depot or similar stores and have two pockets. I stick good stuff in one pocket and garbage in the other, then dump out the garbage when I pass by a garbage can. I'd also strongly recommend getting a handheld pinpointer. It will drive you crazy when you think you've accurately pinpointed something with the detector, dig a hole and find nothing, pinpoint again to the same spot, dig more, and repeat. With a pinpointer when you are within an inch or two it will beep when you have it pointed against the spot in the hole nearest to the object. Saves a lot of time and effort.
Finally, I would get a pair of headphones. You'll be able to hear the beeps better in noisy situations and you'll be less annoying to people near by if you aren't loudly beeping and booping constantly.
If you live near the ocean I can give you advice on beach hunting as well.

Purchased my Ace 350, new in January 2015. Retired in May 2015. I have found 40 quarters, 37 dimes, 10 nickels, 130 penneys, + some wheat back penneys. And about 62 pounds of trash. Today I called my dealer and ask about a fall special on the Garrett AT Pro, had none, so I ordered any way. As I was driving to town he calls and reports that in his email he discovers that indeed there is a special starting first of Sept., so have delayed my order until then. The special has a backpack, hat, coil cover, total of $100.00 extras for free. Great dealer. Webekin

I sometimes dig fragile old silvers that I don't want to scratch, so I carry one of those empty plastic script bottles stuffed with cotton.
