This is not my foray. Still a great looking coin. With the first photo should you be showing the previous owner and ANA # ? This is one for Dave, Vermontensium to look at.

Nice! I'm not really into colonials, maybe because trying to do them in any serious way becomes hugely expensive really fast, but a Fugio cent is a must have for me at some point. For whatever reason I've always thought of it as Americas first true coin (even if arguments to the contrary could be made). Plus, I've always thought the motto on that coin came off as though it was telling people off, even though it is meant to be taken literally.

That's a good lookin' Fugio, WheatBack! IMHO F-15, possibly cleaned as it has a shiny look. It nevertheless has a pleasing, chocolate color, along with decent surfaces and a respectable planchet lamination. Unless it's a better variety, I'd estimate its worth in the $400 range (based on pieces I've seen selling at shows - not book value). As I've had mixed success attributing these, you might well post your pics on this popular Fugio thread ... https://goccf.com/t/253600P.S. - Be sure to keep that old envelope with it. To many a collector of these early coppers, provenance is important.

This appears to be a genuine 1787 Fugio, of the variety Newman 15-Y, with eight pointed stars in recess on the label on the reverse. It is rated rarity URS-10 (fewer than 500 known) and retails per Whitman for $700 in Very Good condition. Yours is a nice original coin with old flip providing some indication that it has been out of the collector market for decades. This is a singular type that uses the eight pointed stars in recess on the reverse. No other known die combination has them. Nice!

I really like it! $3.75 purchase price on the envelope? The envelope almost looks as old as the coin

Very nice Fugio - I just love them. I have a few and have always asked Vermontensium (Dave) for assistance before purchasing.

Nothing jumps out screaming fake to me. The flip insert is curious though. The ANA member # indicates it's no more than 60 years ago or so but the price seems way too low for the 1950s? Anybody an ANA history buff who might know when #11838 was created?

Beautiful Fugio. The envelope is worth as much as the coin, historically speaking!
