The new round 50c coin that is only available in proof sets is a popular item. In fact the 50c proof (normal variety) out of the baby proof sets is also sort after. I am asked daily if I am willing to break these sets just for the 50c coin. For 50c collectors 3 sets are needed this year to continue a collection (ie baby proof, proof set and mint sets).

Yes, and they are awesome especially with the inclusion of the round fifty, the normal fifty and not to forget the 1 and 2 cents.

All the pre-orders for sets I got were shipped the day after the release. Most people had them by the first weekend after release date.

Hey BigFella, If you bust a baby set I happen to know someone in the US that wants that fifty cent piece real bad!!! ME!
My main goal, at this time, is targeting limited release or special release coins world wide as they are released to avoid the huge increases most of them demand. Keep me in mind!

Hi there Terry,

The problem is everyone wants the 50c coin and nothing else. If I had takers for the rest of the coins I would be inclined to break more sets up. I have 7 broken sets all without the 50c. I am almost at the point where I either have to sell the 50c for $70 to $80 to break even or just not break them up at all. The reason for this is everyone is breaking normal proof sets to get the round 50c so they already have the rest of the coins in proof that the baby set offers.

I know exactly what you are saying! Just keep me in mind and I will watch the fighting on ebay until something pops up! Also would like to know what is the normal mintage of the Australian proof sets per year? An educated guess would be fine as it would help me determine whether or not to just buy the whole set? Thanks!

Terry Once you have your Macca's you will know mintages of all the great coins

The question is which proof sets are you talking about?

The normal circulating coins or others?

The 2004 Proof set minted at 50,000 and 6500 there were two.
If you go to my web sidte and check the inventory sheet (Which was created by Bigfella & myself)found on the links page you will have the mintage numbers for all the years from 1966 - 2004 and a description of the set and cost in AU$

Now the proof sets I just described are not the Baby sets those minted at 13,996 in 2004 and 14,799 in 2003 these are also on the inventory sheet
Hope this helps
