Guess you know we will have a pure gold BUFFALO in 2006 and it appears it will be a one year deal only! Something for you Aussies to think about as it will be our first 24K gold bullion coin! Will keep you posted as info is released! You fellows ever need anything down there just hollar as there are quite a few folks here who would be glad to do a little hunting for you!!!

No photos have been released, to my knowledge, but the coin is supposed to be a copy of the original Frazier Indian/Buffalo nickels. I believe, unless something has changed, some of the design will be moved to edge lettering to make more room on the obverse and reverse. Will have to wait until 2006 for more details and I would imagine the Mint will make every effort to strike these as early in the year as possilbe in an effort to suck every dollar they can out of the investor and collector. Just hope gold keeps its downward spiral so we can all afford them when they are released.

Bigfella. Lim and I are just like family only better! His efforts to bring us U.S. collectors into the Aussie family seems to be working very well. I sure spent a lot of cash down under in the last month in hopes of stimulating your economy and enhancing the value of my world collection! The variety and craftsmanship coming out of Australia is well worth watching and I do like those LOW mintage items!!! Hopefully I can repay lim very soon for his kindness and to have the famous G mint mark right here in Indiana is kind of special when I know many Aussies and other collectors world wide are still looking! Trying to finish my 1/2 ounce square Kookaburra bullion coins but now feel the need to finish a second set as I have two 2004 and 2005 coins. Lim has helped finish the first set but seeing how 2005 is the end of the series I must seriously consider finding another 2002 and 2003 to have two sets tucked away! So many coins, so little time!!!

It can get full on there sometimes...especially when you are a MOD.
I tend to ignore posts when the crap starts to dribble. That way I keep my integrity, do not get frustrated and enjoy the forum for what it should be...an information sharing exercise.

hello this is my first post here on this forum , just letting everyone know that the new one dollar mint mark coin due to be released on the 1 st of january is celebrating 50 years of australian television , and there will be a TV mint mark , and the new silver sets will have the 1966 queens head on the obverse , a very good marketing ploy by the mint which should ensure a sell out this time

As an ex-Mod of the other Forum I know exactly how Lim and the other Mods feel, it's like walking a tightrope between being too repressive on the one hand, and allowing the Forum to descend into argument on the other, if you know what I mean. I'm like you Bigfella, I just ignore the Topics that drift away from the Coin being discussed. Oops, I just realised that I have drifted away from the Topic being discussed 'New Aussie Issue', now I will have to ignore my own Post!

unfortunately you are right lim and now with the internet there is even less socialising , but it is an interesting theme for a dollar coin , I am still waiting for a mint mark mob of roos one day , rather than a silly theme for a dollar like tv
