Well the TV coins are expected as many of the Euro nations have already beaten you to it! Austria and Germany have done silver commemoratives in the last year celebrating the greatest propaganda tool the world has ever known. And yes it has caused people to quit socializing and it also is ruining our childrens desire to learn anything else or even go outside and play a game with other kids? While TV has been amazing, and with a little effort good programing can be found, it can be overwhelming and addictive. At least on the computer I am communicating with fellow collectors all over the world so there is interaction and educational opportunities. Guess I couldn't ever do without a computer but I could pitch the TV right now and probably never miss it! Thats the major difference between the two!
Welcome RedBaron and PNC King! Good to have all you fine folks from way down under helping us stimulate Australia's econonmy! Your mint does beautiful work and many an Aussie coin has made its way up here in the last year! Glad you have joined us!

Good move richard getting aust post to send you PNCS , it saves a lot of time looking around for them and as the the pics of new PNCS richard I only got to see black and white photocopies of them but I can post pics of all previous issues and a few that not many people have seen like the 1956 penny aust post issued for the 2000 sydney olympics and the 2001 federation dollar coin florin folder , both of which are not strctly pncs but have stamps in each folder

Hi crystaltalk64, you're right about TV being a mind numbing substitute for the real world, on the other hand it can be a great educational tool, I guess it all depends on the user, or the Parent!
It certainly is an unusual theme for a Coin!

Lim and PNC King would both be familiar with this Avatar Coin Crystalk64, it's part of a Set issued in 2001 to commemorate the 100 year Anniversary of Australian Federation (prior to 1901 we were 6 separate British Colonies). The Set consisted of the normal 2001 Australian Coinage minted in 24k Gold, and only 650 were minted. It is a highly desirable Set down here in OZ, and they rarely appear on ebay. Who knows, if I'm really lucky, one day I might own the whole Set!

The 2001 Centenary of Federation set in Gold is IMHO the Holy Grail of all Aussie Decimal " Normal Circulating" coin collectors.Iussed at AUD$3,200 you will be lucky to get your hands on one for less than AUD$7,000 nowadays. There is only one seller in OZ that I know of that may still have a set for sale, but expect to pay premium prices... [:p]

Now I wonder how many of those sets got busted open? I would think at those kind of prices they would sell much easier by the individual coin? I will have to keep my eyes peeled and perhaps someday I can land one of them from the set. That 50 cents in the avatar sure looks good!
