Picked up this morgan today. A nice planchet crack but unfortunately someone went crazy polishing it. any premium on this or did the polishing kill it?

Yes, that would have been a decent coin if it hadn't been polished.

The remaining dark surfaces makes me wonder if the crack was the result of extreme heat. What is the weight and thickness?

The dark areas in the photo are just from the lighting and aren't actually on the coin. It weighs 26.7g.

I do not belief the coin is genuine. It looks very odd.

Cracked planchet. Coin does look like it was polished. It looks genuine to me, but the polishing ruined the value for it. (there are even die cracks on the coin, so that tells me it has been used in a run of coins at the mint.
