I wanted to know if anyone could tell me if they think this is a real error note or not. Looks like a solvent smear and an insufficient inking on the serial number. PCGS would not grade it due to "questionable authenticity" PMG said it was "unverifiable authenticity." Neither service said it was a fake but neither could tell me the reason why they would not grade it.
Thanks!

to CCF.

If those two TPGs can't/won't verify the authenticity of your note, we're not going to be able to either. Especially not from the picture provided - can you post a bigger pic?

Did you pay grading fees to both TPGs?

Thank you for your interest.
Here are a few close up shots of the areas in question. PMG refunded me the grading fee since the bill was marked "questionable authenticity" and the grading report stated "unverifiable authenticity. I paid the full price for PCGS's opinion though.

to CCF. For what it's worth: I am no pro and the pros already gave their opinion. It looks faked to me. The upper left 6 and the F along with the SN seem bleached.

From the photos, it appears to have been tampered with, as John1 mentioned.

Solvent smears usually leave large streaks on the note.

While this may have happened at the BEP, it could also be duplicated outside. The TPG companies are unable to determine whether it happened at the BEP.

Well, I'm not exactly sure of PCGS policy on these issues; but an email or a call might be in order. I also had one returned from PMG with "questionable authenticity" and they only charged a $5 fee.
Worth a shot. Hey, and since it is Laura's birthday maybe they will be generous. LOL

CK's point is well taken - if the top TPGs won't holder it, then you're running on empty in today's world.

I think it is a real error as none of the other designs are messed up. Wouldn't messing with the green seal also mess with the word FIVE? So let me get this straight you paid for them to grade it but they did not grade it. Did you get your money back? If not then take them to court as taking money but providing no service is fraud plain and simple.
