Hello
A theoretical coin in the Krause has a weight of 26.80 gr and a diameter of 39mm.
The same type of coin that I would like to buy has a weight
of 27gr and a diameter of 39.3 mm.
According to your experience, do you think that the coin is nevertheless in the permissible tolerances of a genuine coin? Or is too far from them? ( especially the diameter).
Thanks for your answers

Kaji, others will weigh in on this, but I think that it depends. Modern minting equipment should be able to be more accurate coins than those values, but maybe not so for a coin minted in the 1600s (and listed in Krause's 17th Century Coins).

Tolerances all depend on the country and the mint that produced the coins.

It kinda depends on who is taking the weights and measures. There can be human errors and just plain carelessness.

As already stated, tolerances are vague depending on how long ago, who made them, etc.
