I was curious as of why some coins get cloudy looking? I have several uncirculated coins from 1968, 69, and 70 in their original packages that have this cloudy or hazy look to them. All of them are from the Denver mint compared to the Philly one. Is this a defect in the packaging? Strange enough, some of them that are hazy look really good with minimum scratches and marks. Would this affect their grades? I would assume they would depending on severity and location but I must ask.
The last two pictures are a quarter which has a blue-like haze on the obverse and toned on the reverse. What's up with that?
Bpoc1- These coins have been sitting in a cardboard box within the downstairs storage closet. Why would only the Denver mint Kennedy's and quarters be effected and not the others? The dimes, pennies and nickels don't have the cloudy or hazy look.
I don't think it's a storage issue. All the other coins would of been affected as well but they haven't. It's only on the kennedys and quarters from 68, 69, and 1970. There's older coins that are out of their original packaging that have sat in that closet longer with no cloudy haze on them. I will try reading up on them more perhaps Google.
