this coin does not match any of the known obverse dies. the mintmark is suspect as it appears that something is under it and the 'S' is a little too far right of the left side of the '0'. the left side of the 'S' should line up with the left side of the '0' on the dropped 'S' obverse die and its not lining up. we'll let some others chime in but I think this one may may an altered 1909 VDB

The "S" mintmark looks glued on and out of position. Also, the "B" in VDB doesn't look right. So...in my opinion the coin may be a real 1909 VDB Lincoln Cent but the mintmark has been added to it.

S doesn't match any positions and seems to be glued on. B in VDB looks wrong.
I'm going to say fake.

Agreed mint mark too far right for position #4 (closest match) and dot between D & B on reverse is missing or altered. Dot should be between D & B and not close to D. 1909-p vdb cent with added S mintmark.

I agree that the location and look of the "S" are both suspect. That's all I can say so seeing it in a righteous slab would be comforting if I were considering it.

Here's another shot of the reverse. What grade do you think it is?

At first glace I thought the mint mark didn't look quite right, I would say, added mint mark.

You have a woody with a non-woody mint mark. You have a coin with a mint mark in an inauthentic position. You have a coin with a mint mark in an inauthentic shape. You have a 1909 VDB coin with an added mint mark.
Grade: body bag.

Thad , The suspense is killing me . Are we all right or all wrong . And why are you asking what grade this coin is in ? that will only indicate that this S-VDB is genuine .

Even the V.(D.) B. looks a little off to me.
