Thanks for keeping us informed JGG and glad at least the 2 packages cleared. I can certainly understand your frustration and hope for you that the lost may still be found. In this era of automated tracking and scanning between postal systems and border crossings, this shouldn't happen:-(

Let's hope that with the current Canada Post issues it will just take a bit longer for you to received this last package. I hate hearing these postal service & custom service 'horror' stories - the emphasis is supposed to be on "service".

Years ago, at an auction lot pick up, I recall Chuck Moore saying that he had lost a number of items going through the Mississauga Sorting Center -- of course they had a big target on them due to packaging. To wildflowerAB's point, this should not be happening.

The whole mess will cost you nothing. NGC has insurance that you paid for. My bet is the package is still being held by the nice folks at CBSA. There is NO way to track it until it comes back into the mail stream after being released from bond. Only once it is back in Canada Post hands will it be traceable again.
One thing for sure CBSA are not going to steal your package, they have lots of easier ways to extract cash.
Once had a package of English coin auction lots take two months to clear Customs!
Don't blame this one on the post office.
Also the late Chuck Moores packages were hardly an easily targeted item.
Most any thing that was posted from him simply said "MOORES " or "CHARLES D MOORE "
Can tell you with absolute certainty ( I had a Very Long career with CanadaPost) very little really goes missing. Canada Post Security people are pretty much top notch.

It was a very pointed comment that (clearly) stuck with me. Nothing further was said in terms of any claims or follow up -- conjecture and/or frustration? The tracking tools available for the consumer today were probably not as feature-rich at that time.

Went looking for old envelopes for auction catalogs and did find a "CHARLES D MOORE" and the Toronto mailing address.

I really don't like the transition mechanism between CBSA and CP. I've lost two coins in that process both of which came in through Vancouver. One was minor value and never found, and the other was a diving goose shipped tracked from Australia at a value of $380.00. The coin sat in "routed to customs status for 3 weeks" until I decided to pursue it. One problem is that CP will not allow you to trace an inbound shipment and it's up to the sender to start the process (even though the coin is already in Canada). In my case, the sender was not overly cooperative so CP suggested I call CBSA in Vancouver which proved somewhat useless. They basically tried to claim that this happens all the time and either blame it in CP not bringing down the package or that the shipment was maybe ceased for some reason (but of course they couldn't prove that and claimed that it's impossible for THEM to loose anything). Long story short, the whole process took so long that the Paypal claim limit passed and I was out the cash.

UPDATE: PacificCoin was right. After 6 weeks, package #1 has finally arrived. No CBSA tape and unopened. It literally sat in a sorting box for 6 weeks collecting dust.
