Just wondering if this coin is worth anything and if it is brass or bronze, I work construction, and while an excavator was digging I noticed it in the pile of dirt.

It is bronze, which is 95% copper. It has very little value in that condition, maybe $1.

If it was brass in such condition, what do you think it would be worth?

How long is a piece of string.
Sorry but that would be the answer as you cannot surmise what would be without seeing the actual coin
Cheers Don

Your coin is not brass. I think that there are less than 5 known of them out of over 9 million minted. In your condition, you wouldn't be able to tell what the compositon was because of the corrosion. Keep it as a pocket piece .. '59's are neat ... I have over 1000 of them.
