And so, inspired by Ron's post, I did...Here is my one Massa from Dharmaskoka Deva's short reign (1208-1209 AD), although I must say that this was a pretty unsafe time to be in charge. Around this time, one ruler lasted only a single day before being executed and replaced.

I have this attributed as Mitchiner #842-844.

Thanks Bob. I know that the "octopus" is actually the king sitting on his throne surrounded by treasures and sacred objects, but I wonder if those have been identified definitively anywhere.

As I look at my coin, by the king's left foot it looks like a lotus plant and by his right side, it looks like a tree (or maybe a fish skeleton). In his left hand, there could be a bird. Is any of that right? What do those five circles represent on his left side?

[edit: Now that I look more closely, it looks to me like the lotus plant has a blossom by the king's left foot and then the stalk goes all the way over to his right foot, where there is a lotus root.]

Sorry, Dave, but I'm still just seeing the male equivalent to this:

yeah well to you.

Here is what I was thinking:

Dharmaskoka-Deva-1208-1209

The lotus plant is red, the tree is green, the bird is blue, the circles are gold, and some mystery item is pink.

Spotted this diagram online:

The coin in the link does not have the flower of the "lotus plant" connected to a stem, and so the author interprets the one on his/her coin as a "sun(?)."

Here's another diagram where it is indeed referred to as a lotus stalk:

Ron, thanks for splitting out this post--I didn't mean to hijack yours...
