I won a trove of wheat straw pennies at a local auction. 9 rolls, each has 50 of a certain year, 1950 - 1958 Denver. It cost me $12.50. Is that about the worth, more than the worth, or was that a decent win?

That comes out to about 2.8 cents per coin. Common Wheat Cents typically go for about 2-3 cents, so I think you did all right.

I knew they weren't worth much. When I saw them I had to have them, as I remember being excited as a kid when I came across one...now I have a ton...

If you have $12.50 worth of fun then you did just fine.
Enjoy!
