In looking over the prices for modern Washington quarter proofs, which I am collecting, I notice that the 1995S and the 1998S are significantly higher in price than other contemporary proofs. My question is why.

Rohumpy, are these Silver or Clad proofs?

I have noticed that the 1995 Silver Proof Set tends to run high, but the 1998 appears to be average.

The singles almost always sell for more than the set, but I think the bulk of the value is in the Kennedy half. The Washington quarter singles fir 1995 and 1997 seem a little high, but not outrageous.

Halfabustisbetter, just so you know, I am checking retail prices on a few sites.

Sorry, I did not identify clearly what I was asking about these are the clad proofs and one source I used was the pcgs guide, plus several dealers prices. One dealer wants 21.95 for the 1995 clad proof. This dealer is a trusted dealer I have bought from many times and I have always found his prices fair and competitive. As an aside, the RedBook shows no anomalies.

I'm on my way to my trusted dealer here in town, I'll see what he has it priced at.

I know the Red Book is usually not to reliable on prices but my 2008 edition, page 325, states a 1995S Proof sets has a current value of $45.00. I presume it is a misprint. The 96S with a lower mintage is only $20 and the 1994S with only a little more mintage is $15.
Could the Red Book have an error in there? Or similar to wines, was 95 a good year for coins?

1995-S proof quarter for 6.99+3 shipping. The dealer I go to was working on his 1965-1998 quarters so they weren't on display, I'll check them on Monday.
